I was born in 1956 in a small town called Sarayköy (district Denizli) in Türkiye. I can say that I had a strong interest in music since my childhood. The schools until the university I graduated in Denizli. Meanwhile, I've started to play in a local band called "Saray 5'lisi" (1969). After 2 years of study of chemistry at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, I’ve changed to the Technical University of Istanbul for shipbuilding. Here I have also started to work really professionally. In Istanbul, I’ve played in two renowned music clubs (Pembe Köşk and Kervansaray) and I was able to get to know various high profile musicians.
Then I moved to Germany in 1980. Here I first had a jazz phase. After that, I immersed myself very intensively in Turkish traditional, Turkish classical and Arabic music. My main purpose was, to analyze what the "oriental improvisation" really is and how to apply it to my own compositions. After about 20 years of self-study, I finally found out the main structure of it. Because my main musical field in Turkey was Western music and jazz, thus I was able to combine Oriental and Western music at their deepest points.
In 2005, I joined the Theater Bremen as a musician on the production of the play "Thousand and One Nights". Besides this, I was the co-musician of the film-soundtrack for "Turkey - from Bosphorus to Ararat". After this project and in the light of the knowledge which I gained till then, I composed my album "ANATOLIAN COLOURS" (2011). This album was a very important milestone in my career because it had many points which were novelties in the music of the East and the West - the details you can read at the description of the album. And then, in 2015, I again began to play by Theater Bremen as a musician, following by Theater Bielefeld and Theater Lübeck. This theater work of mine is still continuing.
And finally, between 2021-2023, I have composed the "ANATOLIAN CONCERTO". My idea was, to compose a classical work which contains the music of 3 continents on which my country lies: Europe, Asia and Africa. In this symphonic concerto I brought together the oud, the chromatic ney (a flute which I developed myself), the saz, the vocals with the piano and the symphonic orchestra. As a novelty, there are multimodal improvisations of mine on all three movements of it. The details you can also read at the description of the concerto. Soon, I will begin to perform both my album and my concerto live at the stage which excites me much. Let's see to where the journey will take me...
